In Case You Missed It, Hollywood was Hollyweed For A Day

(via LA Times)

So the iconic Hollywood sign that is famously mounted in the hills of Los Angeles, California was vandalized this past Sunday. The sign was manipulated to spell out Hollyweed instead of Hollywood. According to reports, the vandal changed the o’s to e’s using tarp in order to pull the hilarious prank off.

Allegedly there’s security camera footage of the vandal but it was too dark to get an accurate description of the person. Apparently there are security triggers on the sign but they can be avoided.

While the prank is definitely a cool way to bring the New Year in on a lighthearted note, the message isn’t all that original. Back in 1976, the sign was vandalized with the same Hollyweed display.  In fact, the sign has been vandalized quite a few times. It’s pretty much a normal occurrence at this point but it’s still pretty funny.
