The Country Music Association Awards or the CMAs, is an awards show that happens every year. The CMAs is just like any other awards show, various artists in the industry that fall in the ‘country music’ category are honored and represented with awards and recognition.

This year, for their 50th Annual CMA Awards Show they invited a very special guest. Queen Bey aka Beyonce Knowles-Carter was asked to grace the CMA stage this year. She collaborated with the Dixie chicks and did a rendition of Daddy Lessons, a song from Beyonce’s latest album Lemonade.

The collaboration did come as a surprise to some of Bey’s fans, but in typical ‘Bey Hive’ fashion, they still supported her and tuned in.

However, some fans did question the motive behind this odd collaboration, and for even having Beyonce at the CMAs. Many chopped it up to the need for higher ratings, or maybe just wanting to reach a broader audience.

It was more than likely a great business move for the CMAs and for Beyonce, both parties exposed themselves and their platforms to a whole new audience. Plus, country music isn’t too far off from Beyonce’s Texan roots.

The show aired Wednesday night (Nov. 2) in Nashville on ABC.
