The 59th Grammy Awards was held in Los Angeles, California yesterday (Feb. 12th) hosted by English actor James Corden. The Grammys has a history of being one of the most prestigious awards one can receive from the music industry.

So every year, music entertainers from all genres walk the red carpet and attend the ceremony to see who will win the various nominations.

Winning a Grammy is like an official stamp of approval for music artist and Chicago rapper, Chance the Rapper has finally been recognized for his greatness, and is now able to say he has a Grammy, or three. He won Grammys for Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album. He came into the Grammys with a total of seven nominations. Chance the Rapper is also the first African American hip-hop artist to win Best New Artist at the Grammys since Lauryn Hill did it back in 1999.

Chance’s story is pretty cool simply because of all the progress he’s made, and all the success he’s experienced without being signed to any record label. He can now call himself a Grammy-award winning artist. Congrats Chance!

You deserve it.
